Last APG visit: 19/05/2012

"The Black Lion re-opened in July 2006 following a £500,000 refurbishment by Brains Brewery of Cardiff. Renowned pub designer, Keith Landers worked hard to keep the charm of the village local whilst allowing the pub to offer all the modern facilities of a top notch food destination pub. Whether you are looking for a quiet pint and a browse of the newspaper, a family Sunday Lunch or a warming bowl of cawl by the fire after walking the dog, everyone at the Black Lion looks forward to welcoming you..."

So goes the blurb on their website. APG dropped off the bus here and we were happy to report that the above statement is fairly accurate. The interior is large and is very nicely done. One ale on (Rev James) which was fine as well as a decent range of keg and a very top-of-the-range coffee machine. Large screen showing the Blackpool/West Ham play-off final. Food is offered though I didn't spot anyone eating. Directly opposite the bus stop, which is handy as you can see your ride approach through the window.

Overall this a was a tidy stop and is worth your custom. For an alternative view, try this write up from Aberystwyth Online - loving the food portion sizes.
