Last APG visit: 04/03/2011

Having passed this place numerous times I finally got to sample it on the March trip, after having had top quality beer and service in both the Tynllidiart and Druid further down the road. On the easternmost extremity of the APG boundary, this place is the last real bit of civilization before the mountain pass kicks in and boy did it feel like it when we visited on a Saturday evening!

The bar is surprisingly large and has a front and rear area. The front was warmer and home to a handful of locals and copies of old bits of documentation about the pub and surrounding area. The back area, containing a dartboard and DJ kit(?) was free, so we colonised that. To our surprise, there was a real ale (only Felinfoel, so don't get too excited) which came out fairly well. More excitingly, there's a good range of Gwent-y-Ddraig bottled ciders. Our Desmond's coffee was served in a very nice tea-set and they didn't charge him for it either; whether that was by accident or design, I don't know.

The place overall felt really weird and quiet. I'd be willing to give it another go but some of the others seemed less keen.
